I think your looking for Matthew Baines of Weyersdale, Lancashire, England.Married Margaret Hatton, daughter of William, of Bradly, Lancashire. Matthew and his family sailed for America, but he,his wife and possibly of their children died at sea.The two surviving children were William and Eleanor, William for some reason spelled his name Banes married Elizabeth (maiden name unknown)they had ten children, one named Jacob. Some of the children, including Jacob spelled their names Beans. Jacob according to my records was born 1729 and died Nov.13 1807 and was married to Sarah Hartly.

· Name: Matthew BEANS

· Sex: M

· Birth: ABT. 1650 in Wyersdale, Lancashire, England

· Death: 1687 in Mid-Atlantic Ocean

· Note:

The Beans of Bucks County, Pennsylvania descend from William Bean of Wyersdale, Lancashire, England. It appears evident that his family had emmigrated to England from Ivernesshire, Scotland during the time of the great political upheaval of the Great Civil War Era. They settled in Lancashire and lived here until the great Quaker Revivals under William Penn. William was one of the many converts to the Quaker faith. It is believed that William Bean never did come to North America and close relatives of this ine of the Clan MacBean still live in Lancashire.

Some use the spelling of the name: Bayne or Bayn, or Baine, or Bane. In North

America various spellings of the name are used also.

(Source: The Clan MacBean in North America.)

Matthew Bean and his wife Margaret Hatton took passage on "The Chester" in England sailing for America. Matthew, his wife Margaret and two children, Thomas and Timothy died of disease and were buried at Sea. The name for some reason became early corrupted into Beans, all of the children of William, except James, signing it in that manner, though the children of Joseph and the grandchildren of some other sons latter spelled it Banes (History of Bucks County, page 722-723).

The geneology in this text has been compiled by the Clan MacBean in North America, many contributors and Myma Vogel who has expanded the records with Census information, marriage records, death records, and historical records from various states.

Matthew was a husbandman, which is those days was a farmer. (Source: Wayner Dillon).

The History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Chapter XIII, Southampton, 1703, form the discovery of the Delaware to the present time by

W.W. H. Davis, A.M., 1876 and 1905 edition.

Davis gives this account of the Mather Baines, descendants of Matthew Baines, Wyersdale, Lancashire, England, who married Margaret, daughter of William Hatton, of Bradley.

Children: Thomas, Elinor, Timothy, William, and Deborah. He says that Matthew left England with Elinor and William and that he died at sea.

The Clan MacBean Memorial Park is on Ancestral Land at Dores, Iverness Shire Scotland. Hughston McBain of McBain is the 21st hereditary Chief of the Clan. He was matriculated 1 in 1960 and lives in Tuscon Arizona. A reproduction of his personal Coat of Arms in inculded here. His Arms are registered with the Arms and Bearings of Scotland. The Clan MacBean has a long history in Scotland. Kindred Clan's are Clan Chattan, Clan MackIntosh and the oldest traceable dynasty of Europe, the Clan Ui Neill or Clan MacNeil as known today.

Notes from Family Tree Maker Geneology/Library. The Baines

family was founded in 1182 and the old Bain's Hall at Knowsthorpe,

England has been in the family for over seven hundred years.

The descendants of William and Hatton Bains are quite numerous

in Bucks and Montgomery Counties, Pennsylvania; and in later years

a family association has been formed to preserve the family records
