Hi,

I'm French and live in Québec,

French swear words aren't anything like English swear words, in French, swearing is mostly religion based and the words used are words describing items you'd find in a church like the tabernacle (tabarnak), in all his French wasn't really good and it was obvious through his accent that he wasn't French in the least. We got a good laugh through it here in Québec though, I thought it was a flatering insertion in the movie.
