Right, I my guess about the spoon is that it is not a spoon from the matrix, but from the real world before the matrix existed.

And as for the data pack, i would have to guess that it is most likely that you can save certain things in the matrix to disk - ie elements for training programs, and video broadcasts etc, so they can then be transmitted to the Zion mainframe or whatever.

Could be wrong but it is a possibility.
