OR, Trinity, or his imagination of Trinity is also a dream, as is Morpheus's crusade. Morpheus and Trinity are just Real life hackers who he believes holds the key to life. The Matrix only exists in Neo's mind.

I'm not saying I like the idea, but it is possible. Anyway, it would be a pretty poor ending, especially from the Wachowski bros.
