Women musicians for years have had to find their way in a male dominated field. Recently women have begun to formulate their own brand of music that includes singing about personal - sometimes intimate problems. All woman listeners may not understand or relate to situations sung about in women's music, so how can most men - as many have been "socialized" not to. The label "women's music" may include a broad genre of music, but it at least gives us a place to start when looking for new, meaningful music performed by women who desire their "frontstage".
