This term women's music was a very new topic or term for me. In fact when Stacy Holman Jones first mentioned the term women's music in her writings to contribute to her ethnography, my initial response was that it was a stereotype. And that this stereotype was to form a term that would describe the relationship of women's music to feminism or lesbianism. But although Stacy Holman Jones struggled to developed an actual definition or understanding of the term women's music I felt her description gave me a better understanding of what women's music really is. And I have established that it definitely is not a stereotype to represent feminism or lesbianism. Instead women's music is a way for women to talk about issues concerning women in through their music.
