I also found the way Coles describes the teacher/student relationship interesting, as well as something I had never heard described in that way before. His argument that a teacher learns from his/her student just as much as a student learns from a teacher is in my opinion very true. As a tutor at a high school I feel that Coles description of a teacher/student ratio is something I experience everyday. I feel that I benefit very much from my day to day accounts with the students I tutor. In fact I was just explaining to my boyfriend the other day how my job is so rewarding because although I am there to tutor the students so they can learn or better develope their math skills from me I come home much more knowledgeable from them. This would involve new accounts on what causes them to have so much trouble with their studies, and how I can present the material in an alternative way so that they can understand it better. So in a sense, I feel I have grown a lot as a tutor through my experiences with these students. In other words, I feel I have learned just as much from my students as they have learned from me.
