I think that when we are alone, there are outside forces that act on us so that we are in some ways still "preforming". However, I also think that we are less motivated by these concerns esspecially when we know that no one will ever know or see us. People do embarrassing things alone that they would never do in front of others. At the same time, we are all acting within the norms and roles that are part of our social selves even when we are out of the social realm. Basicly, alone time is a combination of external forces acting on ourselves and behaving more instinctually without regard for the way we are percieved by others.
