(QUEBEC CITY)-It's offical. The Halifax Harpoons are the winningest regular season team in GWHL history. Again. Thanks to an 8-2 road win over the Quebec Remparts the Harpoons surpassed last year's record setting win total of 52, putting #53 to bed tonight.

Halifax started out fast and just picked up speed as the game went along with somewhat forgotten man Peter Bondra tallying the hattrick, Marian Hossa counting a pair of goals and his league leading 63rd assist of the year and Shawn Bates adding four helpers. "If you keep shooting sooner or later they are going to go in," commented Bondra who is among the leagues leaders in shots on goal.

Not to be missed was Eric Lindros who popped in his 42nd goal of the year setting a new career goals streak mark at five games. "I'm just in a real good groove right now and both of my linemates are hot," explained #88 after the game. "We've got to keep this going right through the playoffs."

Also not to be forgotten is goalie Mike Richter. When Sean Burke went down four games ago with a broken wrist, it was thought that the injury couldn't have happened at a worse time. While that does remain true the grizzled vet has stepped into the breech and taken on an increased role, going 3-0-0 in Burke's absence. "It sure is nice to have someone like Mikey who can do that for you," commented Coach Andy Murray. "He sat when Sean was the #1 guy and came in and did the job when we needed him."

ON THE FARM: The Dartmouth Clippers are on an offensive tear right now vaulting themselves up to #1 on the offensive charts. Presently Sheldon Keefe, Vaclav Prospal, Radim Vrbata, Kip Miller, and Ilya Kovalchuk hold down the third through seventh spots in the scoring parade of the GWMHL.
