After a shaky first half to their season, plus several roster shake-ups, the Saskatoon Silos finally clinched a berth in the 2003 playoffs with a 7-4 victory over the Winnipeg Wolves.

The win also moves the Silos two points ahead of the idle B.C. Huskies in the race for third in the Western Conference.

Saskatoon's leading scorer, left wing John LeClair, led the way for the Silos with a 3-point performance, including two goals. Martin Gelinas, Robert Lang and Radek Dvorak also turned in 3-point performances, while surprise starter Jocelyn Thibault turned in a solid performance in net.

Although there were a lot of smiles in the Saskatoon dressing room, there was no celebrating evident following their clinching victory.

"We had a bit of a rough ride in the season's first half," said Silos team captain Martin Gelinas. "The guys dedicated themselves to having a strong second half, and to making the playoffs, so I think we have accomplished both of those goals. Now, we just have to keep playing hard and not lose our edge going into the playoffs."
