The Saskatoon Silos now know for certain where they will finish in the GWHL's Western Conference following their 5-3 victory over the Winnipeg Wolves. What they don't yet know is who their opponent will be in the first round of the playoffs.

Saskatoon will finish third in their conference for the second consecutive season. While some may take this as a sign that the team hasn't improved since last season, those close to the club feel that this is a stronger team than the one that blew a 3-1 series lead against Calgary in last year's playoffs.

The Silos may get a chance to avenge that series loss to Calgary starting next week, but the identity of their opposition may not be decided until the final game of the season. In fact, Saskatoon could play a big role in deciding which one of Calgary or Victoria finishes atop the conference, since they have two games remaining against the Cougars.

The victory over Winnipeg did not come without a price, though, with Filip Kuba going on the injury list due to a hamstring pull. Kuba will undoubtedly miss the remaining three games in the schedule, and may miss one or two playoff games, as well. Head Coach Bob Hartley is expected to do some shuffling of the defenseman already in the lineup.

Defenseman Hans Jonsson was the first star in the win over the Wolves, with the recent acquisition picking up two goals. Robert Lang also turned in a two-point performance, which earned him the third star of the game.
