Subject: Winnipeg/B.C Swing Blockbuster Deal

Winnipeg swung a major deal last night, shipping off Teemu Selanne and Chris Osgood to B.C. in what looks to be the first of many deals for the Wolves. Off to a disappointing start, GM Matt Kennedy has been looking to dump salary for over a week and last night was able to unload over 10 million. Coming back to Winnipeg are netminder Roman Turek and prospects Mikko Koivu, Kiril Safranov, and Eric Boguniecki. Boguniecki is expected to be called up from the minors to fill Teemu's spot on the wing and should be activated by this weekend.

"We hate losing Selanne without getting a bonafide stud in return, but we were able to shed a lot of salary so hopefully we will be a player in free agency this year. We think we can win it all next year and still feel good about our playoff chances this season. Also, Boguniecki once activated will fill in Teemu's slot. He may not be as explosive, but he should help us out a little more on the defensive side. Koivu is a few years away, but we hope one day he'll be our 1st or 2nd line centerman, and Safranov looks like he could be a top 4 dman in the near future."
