(HALIFAX)-The Halifax Harpoons have traded with the Yellowknife Blades for right winger Radim Vrbata. Vrbata, a Czech forward playing with the Fort McMurray Drillers of the GWMHL had 10 goals and 17 assists in 32 games this year.

Going to Yellowknife in the deal were London's 1st round draft pick in the 2004 draft which the Harpoons held the rights to, Halifax's 3rd round pick in the 2007 draft and Czech forward prospect Michel Sivek, obtained earlier this year from Charlottetown for Sylvain Lefebvre.

"On the surface it looks like a steep price to pay," commented Harpoons GM Stephen J. Holodinsky, "but we feel that at where the London pick would have been, there wouldn't have been anyone better than Vrbata. He's a god young player and we were happy to pay the premium needed to get him. We look at him to continue the Halifax tradition of fine offensive wingers down the road for us."
