(WINNIPEG)-And so it continues, on the road or at home. The Halifax Harpoons overcame a relatively slow start to overtake and defeat the Winnipeg Wolves 7-5 on the strength of Milan Hejduk's hattrick. The entire top unit of Lindros, Hossa, Hejdek, Blake and deVries dominated their counterparts scoring 4 times and grabbing 9 assists on the night while going a collective +20 on the night. "This is the best we've played as a unit in a while," commented Rob Blake who had a pair of helpers. "Everyone just seemd to know where everyone else was with the passing."

Rounding out the scoring for Halifax were Eric Lindros (20), Jeff O'Neill (26), Joe Thornton (12), and Brian Leetch (11)
Scoring for Winnipeg were Oleg Tverdovsky, Mike Leclerc, Joe Neiuwendyk, Daymond Langkow, and P.J. Axelsson.

With their seven goal output the Harpoons staked their claim as the best offense in the GWHL and quite possible a record setting one. The need only 193 goals by the end of the regular season to become the first GWHL team to score 400 goals in a single season. While they do have three players in Lindros, O'Neill, and Shawn Bates with 20 goals or more, it is the depth of their scoring which has gotten them to the top of this mountain. Halifax boasts 11 players with at least 10 goals, more than any other team in the league. Presently the troika of Bates, Hossa, and Zigmund Palffy rank among the top ten scoring left wingers in the GWHL, while Blake and Leetch are the circuit's top scoring blueliners. All this while holding the opposition to a league low 24.2 shots per game. But Halifax has dominated regular season play before. Ultimately their fate will be decided by what they do in the post season.

CATCH OF THE DAY: Zigmund Palffy left the game in the second period with what was described as a 'lower body injury' and is day to day. It is expected that hot shot prospect Ilya Kovalchuk will be brought up from Dartmouth to fill his place while he is out.
