Montreal - The Great White Hockey League announced today that the pending sale of the Montreal Marauders was finalized, as the team was sold to an American group led by a self-described Carpeting Czar in St. Louis, Missouri. The first official act of the new ownership was to install Sean Gallagher as the team's General Manager.

"I'm honored to be a part of the Montreal franchise," said Gallagher, "I believe that we have a strong core of players and that this team is much better than a last-place group. With patience and solid planning, we can build a solid team around this core. I do not plan to make wholesale changes, except in the standings. This team will become more accountable and responsible.

"Trades are an inevitability in this business, especially whenever ownership and management changes are made. However, I plan to evaluate this team for a bit before making any serious moves."

GM Gallagher met with all of his players and coaches during his first day in Montreal. A source within the organization indicated that head coach Michel Therrien was taken to task for his inflexibility in changing line combinations that were not working, overplaying his goaltender and not utilizing assets fully. Tensions are said to be high between the coach and the GM.

The unnamed source also indicated that Gallagher was not pleased with his non-Peca centericemen, whom he labeled soft.
