In cases where forwards are listed as having more than one position, I think the GM should have to choose the position that the player will occupy. Perhaps there could be 3 or 4 intervals throughout the season where GMs could be given the option of switching the position of a player or players.

Or, like re-rates, perhaps each team could get two (or some other number) to start each season, and use them at their discretion. The position changes would have to be reported to the league, and they could be used in trades the way re-rates are.

I don't care for the universal winger approach, however.
