There are a lot of reasons the weld beads look different. What size wire are you using? What size material are you trying to weld? Which electrode is your dad using? What position are you both welding in, flat, vertical up, vertical down, horizontal, overhead? What welding machine do you have? What is the largest wire it will handle? What are the voltage and wire feed speeds you have set?
