1.) Kohlberg’s theory of moral development reflects the right and wrong outcomes and decisions we make in our lives. According to Heinz’s Dilemma we are all given an ultimatum in life. Sometimes we make the best decisions and sometimes we do not. People should not want to intentionally or purposefully cause harm to anyone for whatever reason. But let’s face the facts some people hurt others just for the fun of it and others bring harm to people because they want something the victim has to offer. Regardless of the reason it is definitely wrong that is the reason why there are laws, rules, and regulations in place all over the world.

I believe Stage 6: Universal Ethical Principles would be the stage that would suit me most. I believe in obeying the law and rules of the land and having respect for others. I am always there when someone is in need. Also, Kohlberg’s last level which is the Postconventional might be suitable for me because I am very caring and have concern for other people. My age range falls in the stage as well.

I do not completely agree with Kohlberg or any theorist about their ideas or theories because there is always room for doubt and error. His stages do not consider every aspect of someone’s moral decisions.

2.) Erikson’s theory of self development is very interesting. Erikson believes we all can be stuck in one stage but still have issues from another stage or vice versa. This might be true for some people. Someone who has had issues in their adolescence years with identity confusion may have problems in their marriage because they do not know how to love themselves or let someone else get close to them.

My age puts me in Stage 6 of Intimacy. I believe I fall in this category because I am at the point in my life in which I want to settle down and begin a family. Of course, I want to finish my Master’s Degree first, get married, and then have a few children.

I do not completely agree with Erikson or any theorist about their ideas or theories because there is always room for doubt and error. His theories are very limited and do not explore every options of the human obstacles. People may not truly fit into one of his stages, however, maybe a person can come close to what is similar for their lives.

3.) The theory that is most relevant to my career, major, and life is the Self Development theory provided by Erikson. This theory expands more in the direction that I have seen my life take. Mainly, I plan to use both of these theories in my counseling experiences, in my academic career, and in my profession.
