One thing that I like about Kohlberg's theory of moral development is that it points out stages that children go through that determine the understanding of punishment for doing right and wrong. The punishment obedience stage is one that children are normally in because I think they act off of whether they think they will get punished or how great the punishment will be. The thing that I dislike about his theory is that in order to determine if an act is right or wrong, it really comes from the parents beliefs so all stages might or might not come into effect because of the parents belief in punishment or what may be right or wrong in their eyes. The thing that speaks to me personally is that Kohlberg's theory unlike Piagets continues until adulthood. Eventhough many children go through these stages, many adults like myself do also. I feel that sometimes I'm in the instrumental purpose and exchange stage because if I like something and really want it, I tend to give up anything to get it. Reading about this theory really surprised me because I never knew it was a name for it and reading it in dept made me realize some of my actions are like those of children and some crooks.

>theory of self development? What is it in this theory
>that speaks to you personally? In which crisis to you
>find yourself? Why? I tend to have mixed feelings regarding Erikson's theory of self development. One thing that I like is that the 8 stages are realistically what we experience as children and adults. Quilt, shame, trust issues, the Who Am I stages are all real feelings. Although I dislike the fact that in this theory once we go through a stage we cant go back but what I like about it that we can still work on our negatives and grow in another. I find myself in the Generativity vs Stagnation stage. Trying to have a concern for my students lives and leave a strong impact on them but many times I find myself giving advice, I need to take myself because im still in the Trust and Midtrust stage so I dont trust people or open up like I should because of my past.

> 3) Of the two theories, which is most relevant to

>these theories?
Of the two theories, I feel that Erikson's theory is most relevant to my career and life. His theory is good to use because all 8 of his stages are stages that teachers have to work with from grades K-12. Since I work with teenagers, I would focus on the Trust vs Midtrust, Initiative vs. Guilt, Industry vs. Inferiority and Identity vs. Identity Confusion. These stages are most important and critical for teenagers growing up
