I'm a little frustrated because I thought I posted a reply to this message last night, but apparently it did not go through. Anyway, I like how you mentioned how the person might need to revisit the trust stage. It seems silly that every stage must be passed in order to move on. Naturally, passing these stages facilitates the process of further development, however, I have a hard time believing that it'd be necessary. For example, if a kid suffered child abuse and has major trust issues, does that mean that child is incapable of moving through other stages. Certainly it would make this process more difficult but I don't think it is a necessary prerequisite.
