Before taking the tests: I have never believed that IQ tests matter as much as other measures of an individual's intelligence. However, I was curious about what it would be like to take the tests and to see how I would do.

I didn't notice, until after clicking on the link and beginning the test, that it was supposed to take 40 minutes and was over 100 questions long. I wasn't aware ahead of time that it would take so long. The verbal section was actually fun for me to do, because that area comes naturally to me. (I read all the time.) Although the math word problems were fairly simple, it's been MANY years since I've taken a math class and I haven't used any math more complicated than balancing my checkbook or altering recipes in years. So I slowed down in that portion. The spatial section was more challenging because I really had to spend time visualizing. Some of the puzzles were difficult for me and by this time I was wondering whether the test was going to automatically stop at 40 minutes. Since I hadn't paid attention to my starting time, I started answering more quickly and skipping some problems that were taking me too long to figure out.
When I finished the test I was shocked at the result - and was confused as to how I could score at the genius level, having skipped problems and rushed through some sections. It took me a little while to notice that the score only reflected the verbal portion of the test! Since I didn't want to purchase the complete report, I don't know how well I did (but I am certain that my total score was definitely lower than my verbal score). This result showed me how biased the test was...since I am a person whose life centers around language, of course I did well in that area.
Because I am out of practice in math, that was more difficult for me. However, had I recently been enrolled in any kind of math class I think I could have completed the test much more quickly. Familiarity with puzzles would also have helped me. This test seemed to favor those who had a particular kind of education and also practice taking tests. I don't think the score was useful to me in any way.

Although the second test was fun in the beginning, I started to tire of it before long. I think that when things cross the line and become too much of a challenge, then it is easy to lose interest. My score was average - about what I expected it to be. I'm not sure what this test shows and I wonder if the results would be very different if people from different countries took the test.

The third test was interesting, however, it seems easy to figure out what the "appropriate" answers are - to make yourself look emotionally healthy. I answered honestly and found the result to be a fairly accurate description. This test can only be useful if people don't manipulate their answers. I'm not sure who uses this test - or when it is used. I do agree that there is such a trait as emotional giftedness and that it is may be an even more important predictor of success in life than having a high academic IQ.
