I agree with everything you pointed out. People have strengths and weaknesses which may or may not be evaluated by an intelligence test. The multiple intelligences theory by Gardner as well as Goleman's theory of emotional intelligence recognize the value and contribution of these differences to our successes. This supports your statement that the test should be only one measure of a person's intelligence.
Motivation is absolutely critical and can make all the difference in whether an individual can persevere and ultimately reach his goals.
I also shared your experience: by the end of the tests (the first two) I was getting tired and making quick guesses (or just skipping the questions completely), just to finish the test. On the other hand, I knew that the results would not be used for anything, so it really didn't matter what my scores were (I guess that would be an example of lack of motivation.)
