You bring up a very interesting point with your test anxiety, Savannah. You were already nervous about taking the test and doing poorly on it, and then you became frustrated and more nervous during the test. Those emotions and fear influenced your test taking abilities and likely caused you to have a lower score than you should have. The same is true for many children. How many ten year old students wouldn't be nervous when taking a test that is supposed to tell them how smart they are? They would all be uneasy and worried, because they wouldn't want to get a low score and become embarrassed in front of their classmates. As other people have mentioned in their posts, just the thought of having only 40 minutes to answer 100 questions can really stress someone out. I would imagine there would be less questions for younger students, but the idea of a timed intelligence test basically transforms the test into a race to see who can answer the most questions correctly the fastest. One student might be able to correctly answer a question in 30 seconds, while it takes another student a full minute; however, they still both answer it correctly. If this type pattern continues then the first student would have the higher IQ at the end of the time limit, but that may not necessarily be the case if the test was given without a time limit.
