IQ tests can be a useful tool in helping educators and counselors gather data about the people with whom they are working. These tests, however, do have limitations and should be considered as one piece of data to be used. It's not completely trustworthy for many reasons: cultural factors (test takers and those who design the test), a proper testing environment, test takers physical or emotional condition at the time of the test. So they are okay to use, but we should be careful to not put too much faith in them.

I was not really surprised by the results of my tests. For the most part, I scored well on one and less well on another but it's what I expected from both. Having said that, I don't feel it really makes in defining assessments of me or my aptitude. Perhaps I do not understand the process well enough. It could point someone in the right direction were I under the direction of a counselor or educator and perhaps provide valuable insight. Still as a culture, I feel we place too much emphasis on testing of all sorts. It springs from a need to quantify everything but frankly, our knowledge of how human intelligence works is still basic. At least the theories of multiple intelligences are moving us away from these types of assessments and encourage a more holistic view of how intelligence(s) can be quantified.
