Hi to you all. I am pleased that the Lippstadt Reunion went so well and was enjoyed by all. If anyone has any photographs that I could have a copy of, I would be pleased to put them on the regimental site for all to enjoy. Please forward a few to the email address shown and I would be very grateful.

Regards Terry

What a nice pub Steve Gunning found for us in Lipperode, the welcome was very warm from the staff who served us well through out the evening. Those who attended all stated what a great evening it was. The next evening we all met at the Golden Hahn in the middle of Lippstadt (a very crowded Lippstadt) where Herbsvoche was in full swing. From what I remember of Herbswoche it was mainly centered on the street where Woolworths is (Woolies is still there), but now spreads through every street and side street in town, making it a huge spectacle, especially at night when it is all lit-up. As is common with Herbswoche there were countless beer and bratty stalls and other stalls offering different delicacies. the fair ground rides were all modern versions of old favourites, but seemed to be huge now in comparison, and more terrifying, than when I was ever tempted to ride them. This turned out to be cracking weekend spent with some good old friends, Lippstadt may have changed in so many ways compared to our time there, but what has'nt changed is the enduring friendships from that time.

Lippstadt 09

One can only put this in a few words

“Fantastic company, Fantastic food & a Fantastic Herbswoche

For those that turned up they know what I’m talking about, for those that missed it, there’s no easy way in saying it “You missed a bloody good weekend”

The memories of seeing Lippy & travelling to it after all these years just continued to flood the mind - the bars & clubs we made our own, the restaurants we ate in & the fun we had just added to what can only be described as a magical weekend & both Dee & I will certainly go back.

Steve, thanks for sorting a place to go on the Fri & lovely to meet your good lady & how ironic the football players we bumped into in town after leaving you all on the 1st night just happened to be the players your son plays with – “spooky”.

Dai “E”, Dai “R”, Harry, Terry, Mick, Jock, Steve, Legs, Ron & all your good ladies, thanks for a brilliant weekend, great to see you all & hope you all go back again.

Beano & Smudge, your friends & good ladies, what an absolute surprise to bump into you that weekend & I can now see & understand why you return each year.

To all – “Until the next time”

MaD (Mick & Dee)

Hi all,
May I thank Steve & Anja for putting up with us & Terry for the Reunion,we were like one happy family.
Those that did turn up had a great time at two fantastic venues, its a pity we could not have made three, but we have to get back to work.
Mick (Turdy)you have all the bad luck;8 hrs over then having to pay extra to get on a earlier ferry back, you will have to follow us over next time, 5&half going-5&half back & did not pay for early ferry, never mind mate.
Those who said ,Yes to a Lippy Reunion & never turned up, you missed a fantastic time.
Thanks again to the ones that did turn up, see you at the next one.
Mick,Kat.

Hi Kev
We will all be meeting up on the Saturday, just need to decide on a place. The idea of getting together on Friday is so we could the lamp-swinging out of the way and then on Saturday enjoy the bright lights of Lippstadt Herbswoche.
Give Steve Gunning a bell Saturday morning and he will bring you up to date.

Hi to all those Lippstadt bound, Stevie Gunning has booked us room for a get together on the evening of Friday 23rd.
Its a pub in Lipperode called ALTES GASTHAUS VOSS.
Remember this is Herbswoche week and Lippstadt will be very busy. Lipprode is only a couple of minutes from Lippstadt town centre. Having the get together on the Friday evening will leave everybody free to enjoy the Saturday in Lippstadt at whatever is on for Herbsvoche.
Steve also told me he has a neighbour with a taxi business and could, if anybody wanted to, arrange airport transfers etc,Steve's tel no. 0049 02941 657759. Give him a bell if you want transport he will be happy to help.
Could you also confirm your attendance, we have the opportunity of a larger room if needed, so let me know if you are coming as soon as possible please, on here or 6 Bty facebook page or by email, cheers

Guys, Girls, Members, Royalty, Yids & Squids,

Some may not be aware of this but Stevie Gunning has been arranging a place for us to go on the Fri night 23 Oct 09 (see comment on Dai's site), depending on the amount that intends on going will depend on the room size the pub/place will allow us to celebrate.

Effectivley, Steve needs to know if you are going, or not, then please let him know via the Shiney-Six website.

Bearing in mind the excellant support & response we get from the German crowd when the reunions are held in the UK, the response to Dai's point in this matter has recieved a poor return with very litle responding to the request.

It's appreciated that some can't afford this "but hey" come on guys it's seconds to put something on the web site?

In a nut shell "get off your Fooking Aris" & get typing?

Those that have already responded Steve thanks you for that & we'll see you there.

Luv, Blood, Tits & Glory to you all.

Mick aka TT

Dai,

Just letting you know Me, Dee, Trevor (Harry) & Helen Egan are still going, although with regard to me it depends on the outcome with the police, (speeding on the M40 & minor assault with some prick in a sainsburys car park), no charges hvae been made yet & fingers crossed hopefully nothing will happen until after the reunion - so see you there.

If memory serves me, didn't the shiny take part in the Battle of Culloden?

If so, then maybe this will be of interest to you:

Government artillery gunners may have hit their own troops while firing mortars into a Jacobite charge, a new book has suggested.

A chapter in Culloden: The History and Archaeology of the Last Clan Battle said the risk of friendly fire was a "very real one".

Archaeologists found shrapnel from mortar shells close to where frontline infantry had stood.

Bossie - Thanks for getting in touch with Jock Reid as he told me about this site.
I had a look at some of the old pics that Dai posted and it was great to see some of the old faces from back then and how they look now 30 years later!
Spick,Mick Taw,Eamesy,Madge,Charlie Routledge,Becky,Harry Egan,Max,your all instantly recognisible so there's alot to be said for Asbach imo.
When i got out i worked for Royal Mail for 20 years and been in property management for the last 7 years.

I suppose the old saying "Once a sqaddie always a sqaddie" rings true in all of us and a site like this is a great way of keeping in touch with some great friends from the past and i look forward to seeing some of you again in the near future.
Cheers

HELLO BG

Ah the punk era..Are you refering to the night in that pub outside the camp at Honhe when punk arrived in Germany? great night that was, me and Giz "Geordie" Nichol led procedings.
These days it's a foxtrot and a look of amazment followed by a shimmy on the dance floor then a sheepish retreat. haha

I think me and you must hold the record for how many gun detachments we served on..my excuse was i could cook and make an "all in meal" taste GOOD (excuse the pun) what was yours?hehe
Great to hear from you BG and keep the banter coming.

Nice to see that quite a few have commited to Lippy 2009.
The dates we are looking at are weekend 23/24/25th October. these are the days we can have a get together and of course people can decide how long they want to be in Lippstadt for that suits them.

Anyone know any contact details for the REME lads so we can meet you all in Lippstadt 2009!? I've been in contact with John Scholfield the Tiffy (who is off to Tasmania shortly?)& Jack Kinnear who is an Estate Agent in Scotland I believe, just need Bob Morris, Bob Hale, Scouse Brennan, Rab Anderson& Don Buckley now ..... I was the "young boy" of an ECE in those days that used to tweak the cab heaters in the ME109's for Mick Torr & Briggsy (they never could handle the cold them two!) & blow up the odd 100Amp engine battery terminal post - tweaking medical equipment now for the Private Hospital industry which is a scary thought? lol

HI all, nice to see people are starting to get interested in a Reunion or just a get together (short holiday). My experiences are that any time you can have a good time on the herbstwoche, but what you have to take into account is that on the first day of the celebrations everyone turns up it is chocablock it is hard to find a place in a pub you are literaly shoulder to shoulder in the streets (beer stands) or in the pubs. This is why every year that i go to the herbst woche with Terry Ryan nick name the snapsman it has always been the last few days (friday-sunday). That is my point of view, anyway if you decide the start or the end of the week i will be there.bye for now

My experience of the Herbstwoche is that the last weekend is normally the best, driving back on the sunday, quiet roads. The City are very good, have their own Web page and I always book by Fax and receive confirmation the same day, The Lippischer Hof ,now Best Western Hotels is ok, same road as the Strand Hotel was on.

Ian Smith wrote the following on Facebook.

"As most of you know i go back every year and we go on the thursday and return on the sunday ie; this year arrive 22 October leave on the 25th, always the weekend when the clocks go back. We normally use the what was called the Lippischer Hof, but find the City Hotel better, plus its opposite the Golden Hahn Hic!!. I would be moe than happy to help out in any capacity, though I was 56. We go by ferry which is usually around £65 a car including 4 passengers and we plan that those 4 people alllin, including beer, petrol, food, hotel, breakdown, ferry, ect ect is aroun £300 per head."

Thanks for the input, Ian

To get an idea of hotel prices go to www.booking.com and bring up the Lippstadt page.
I did an Airberlin enquiry from Stansted to Paderborn/Lippstadt going out on the 21st October and returning 25th October and it was
108 euros return. dont forget you can fly from Manchester as well.

I will do my best to get the time off and make the journey. I will tie it in with a visit to the UK to see the family etc.

Ihave been playing around with some old and not so old photographs. I still have hundreds more but there are enough in the albumn to give you a taste of nostalgia.
These will all be linked to the Regimental site but for now go to the following link and enjoy.
I would also like some photo's from the 23 Bty reunion if anyone would care to send me a few.

Hi Folks
I have put the bulk of the photos from the old website onto photobucket and they can be viewed on this url...
http://photobucket.com/DaiEdwards
click the thumb nails for larger pics.
I will put a link to it on the Bty website as well.
anyone not getting the new site without the link 'enter' button that took you to the old site, needs to erase their temporary internet files.
Cheers
Dai

Just been looking at the price of flights for October 2009.
Air Berlin Stansted to Lippstadt/Paderborn is being quoted at £80.00 return. The dates I tested were, out on the 17th (saturday) and back on the 26th (monday). Air Berlin have flights going everyday to Lipp/Pad so you can tailor your visit to suit yourself.

Just finished the book described below, I'm mentioning it on here due to the fact that the guy who wrote it was once in 27 GW Regiment when it was first formed.

The Joker: Twenty Years Inside the SAS
by Pete Scholey

About this title: Scholey vividly describes life as a soldier, giving first-hand accounts of jungle warfare in Borneo to desert fighting in Aden. This exciting account of some of this centurys most sensitive and dangerous operations also offers a genuine insight into the one of the worlds premier fighting forces.

AOL are removing the facility of storing pictures on their service at the end of October. Most of our photos are stored there and are accessed via the www.shiny-six.co.uk website I set up awhile ago, I pay for that web address, but it only allows me a limited amount of space hence the link to AOL.I am working on trying to save all the old photos and looking into putting them on a Google site, this will take a little time and so you will need to bear with it if you try unsucessfully to access the photos afer the 31st October. I'll keep you informed of progress.
Cheers

Didnt think there were enough troops left in Germany to warrant Naafi being there. Jibes aside, I hope you settle in ok and enjoy your new life, and look forward to seeing you next year.

Thanks Dai we are enjoying it the Prison Service made sure that I was finacially ok if you know what i mean and Kerry got a nice lump sum from the hotel that she ran, glad to hear you have retired as from what i am hearing it just isnt the place to work now, still in touch with Tom who retires himself in a year.
Any idea what the date is going to be for the reunion next year. We have got spike and susanna coming up near christmas for the Munster markets.
The NAAFI are still here where we are for another 7 years yet so that will do us just fine, still getting everything tax free even earnings JHQ will be closed in about 3 years then there will be about 5 or 6 barracks left in Germany. all the very best to you all and see you next year if not before if you are over here

Hi Dai, Hi all,
just a quick reply to Kev Russels question about Hotel costs and availability. There are plenty of Hotels in Lippstadt at reasonable prices. Of course it is always better to book in advance to ensure that you do get a room because that time of year it is quite busy in Lippstadt. Dai has a link to the lippstadt website which is also in english, so that will give you an insight to what you are looking for.

Hi Dai hi all,
at the moment i cannot find the exact dates but i reckon it will be from the 17 Oct to the 25 Oct. 2009. Excellent choice to have the next reunion. Lippstadt will be flowing with beer stands, bratty stands fairground attractions etc. etc. Just ask Terry Ryan it must be good because he keeps coming back every year. One bit of bad news for those who remember places like the strand and the triangle, the strand does not exist any more it has been demolished and the triangle is still there but a bit more respectable. Got to go now off down to the market square to listen to afew live bands playing and of course have a few beers.

Takecare

Harry,

Strand is probably like the camp "closed" but we can certainly try, there's always the triangle if it is?

Mick R,

Oct sounds like a good time to go as well as you say the fest is on which could add to the Sixers home coming & the excitment.

Yes I think it would be brilliant to have reunion in Lippy, October seems like a good time, summer holidays are over and the fest is on,we have spoken about it enough,so lets go for it and show Dai our appreciation by having a good turn out, and of course to thank in advance our friends over there, who will be doing alot of the leg work.
I speak for Terry aswell, but no doubt you will be hearing from him. By the way Denise hows your head after the last one Mick

Dai, sorry you weren't there, all were asking after you & as I said to most there must have been a reason for you to miss a good time, we hope all is ok with you, equally all send their regards.

For those that did turn up the comradery & banter was as always excellent & it was great to see you all again & next time I promise I'll try & get my voice back in tune.

Mick & Cath, look after that tie, you have 2 years until you return it.

Charlie Routledge, you & your good lady looked well & as always it was great to be around you with the banter & friendship you show all.

Finally, Terry, what can one say to you but just "brilliant" another great function organised for all - Thanks

Ok, enough said take care all & I'll see you at the next one.

Message for Dai Rowlands, Spick and Harry

Unfortunately I am not able to attend the re-union, and buy you all a drink. I am still suffering from panic attacks and severe depression after upsetting you all earlier in the year regarding Spicks spelling and unusual use of grammar. Therefore with no expense spared I have arranged for Heinz (not a German brand) to deliver three tins of Alphabet soup to the re-union. I am sure this will provide you all with endless entertainment, this will also have some educational benefits (maybe??)

Have a great time

Gobber

PS Harry don't forget to make arrangements to park the mobile library / chip van.

Hi Gobber
Sorry to disappoint you but I'm afraid your kind gesture will not be taken up by myself at the forthcoming reunion as I am unable to attend . I do recall that you used to play in the bty football team and were able to trap a ball further than I could kick it. You also used to write 'to whom it may concern' on the ball when you made a so called pass. As for the panic attacks and depression I would get one of your white coated buddies to sort you some prozac, that should square you up. You really ought to get somthing done about the chip van /library fetish you seem to have going on, perhaps one of your white coated buddies may be able to help there also . Well thanks for the message Steve have a good time in Greece see you sometime.
By the way, you know how they separate the men from the boys in Greece? If you don't, well have fun!H

Reunion Bookings -- Terry St Pierre, 02:31:35 03/21/08 Fri
Hi Everyone.
I received the following email yesterday from SandBay. Whilst bookings are good, I know a lot of you will leave it until the last week or so to make your booking. Please do it now if you are going to the reunion and quote 27RG, this ensures we are all seated in the same area in the dining room. I think the numbers are better than appears as not everyone quoted the booking ref: This happened at Hayling Island. From emails ,telephone calls and banter on the battery web sites I would think in excess of 200 would be realistic. Please if you haven't booked, do it now.
***********************************************************

With Easter nearly upon us I thought it might be

a good time to give you an update.

Please note that bookings are still being received.

Identified Guests booked as at 19.3.2008 are 133.

These are people who have quoted the 27RG

Booking Code. These people have used 72 rooms.

There are also a further 60 booked but I cannot identify whether they belong to your group or not

We are still holding 43 rooms, but do have additional

group business looking for summer weekend space.

To this end I intend to reduce the amount of rooms

Being held for your regiment bookings today from 43

to 23.

I will hold these 23 rooms up until 25th April 2008 at which

Point all unsold rooms will be released for free sale.

I will be reducing the rooms held by 3.00pm today.

Hope you are well

Kind regards

Martin

Hi Terry

I am hoping to make the re-union, unfortunately I will not be able to confirm until the end of this month. Some good news I received a text from Jimmy Paynter this morning, he is on a cruise somwhere near Maderia, he has just got engaged to his girlfriend Anthea and they are planning to get married in March next year. Some people never learn.

All the Best

I would like to thank all of you that have registered on the new site. Unfortunately that ia a total of 140 out of thousands. One of the biggest problems of running the OCA is keeping a current list of names and addresses. It would help me enormously if you would take a couple of minutes to log on and register. Please pass this on with the site details to mates in order to spread the word.

Many thanks

Well the numbers for the reunion in june are really looking good, the reason for this is mostly because terry has struck a deal for a cheaper rate for early bookings. This is a great idea and the bonus is when you book by phone you only have to pay £20 up front with the rest later,so come on for a long weekend in june the deal is great dab in and give them a call. Then let dai know and let's see who's going it's got to be a right blast hope to see you there

Just to let you know that I am cycling 360+ miles at the end of May to raise money for Help for Heroes. Why not visit the www.helpforheroes.org.uk site, or even visit my page at www.justgiving/brianpayne for a laugh at my picture - and maybe donate a quid or two! I know things are a bit tight for all of us at present, so expressions of support are equally welcome.

Just thought I would let you know how things are going with the reunion planning. So far there are 72 confirmed bookings and that is at this early stage. I have yet to put out letters and probably wont do so until after xmas. If you haven't booked but you intend too, please do so early as this gives me a better planning figure to work with. From what I hear and the phone calls I get, I think we will have a really good turnout and a great weekend.

Dickie please send me a short email so I can pick up your email address.

Myself, Ron, Steve and Craig with the help from Terry shall be tasting the standards of the beer stalls/Pubs etc. I have also heard that a few lads from 49 Regt are also coming over. Dai i know we have already spoke about the next reunion here in Lippstadt, maybe we can combine it with the Herbstwoche 2008 and make along weekend out of it, its just an idea but i reckon a good one. So take care everyone.

Has anyone see the photo in todays Mirror (20/8/07) page 19 of Sir Richard in Afghanistan yesterday. He looks like a man who has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Another excellent article by mirror in its campaign to get forces fighting in South Afghanistan a medal.
Quote Maj Gen Nick Vaux said " I support the mirror all the way in its campaign to get a proper medal for service personnel. It is monstrous troops are not being recognised properley. There should be a special medal to recognise those killed or wounded, not just a clasp.

This government is so embarred by Afghanistan they try to dumb down or disguise casualty figures, not award medals or issue a campaign medal as it recognises this whole thing has escalated way beyond what the public expected"

Article can be read here * www.mirror.co.uk/news/...-19660953/

Please sign the broken covenant campaign by RBL at * http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/index.cfm?asset_id=516704

The government and GBP should hang their heads in shame for what they have done to our troops. It takes more than wearing a poppy for a day to show real support.

A spokesman for the Legion said it had decided to focus on medical care, coroners' inquests and compensation. Last month it emerged that a civilian typist with the RAF received a payment of £484,000 after injuring her thumb at work while a 23-year-old paratrooper, Ben Parkinson, who will need care for the rest of his life after a serious landmine injury, will be given £152,150. Many injured personnel have still to receive their payments.

Liebe Gobber,
thank you you for your sehr informativ write up about me. This so called German ailment does not exist. I reckon my English is perfect and yours at your last attempt was pretty pathetic.
Ich glaube immer noch that you are under pressure at your job and it is zu viel für dich. Did you know there are other dinge ins leben other than trying to slag people down. Change your job and you might find that you come down to the normal way of thinking. What ist verkehrt wenn mann with a fish and chip van a second wage verdienen kann Harry is probably very happy with that, more than we can say about you and your golf, what a disaster. What a result. The day started early for many serving and ex servicemen and women who travelled from all over the UK. Everyone was suited and booted so as to try and protect identities of those still serving.
Massive last leaflet drop in Ashtead, Epsom and Leatherhead all day Wednesday before council meeting at 1900hrs, to continue to try educate locals of why we needed this home.
The council meeting had approx 150 people there (mainly forces connected) of all ages. We had about 10 of the boys (all still inpatients at Headley Court) all 18-26 years old approx, mainly all amputees come along also. The reception they got from all the abled bodied was unbelieveable. The bravery of these young men ( some of who have been M in D) who don't yet seem to realise what they have done. They are just so modest it was a real pleasure to be amongst them.

To actually see some men with tears in the eyes of all ages and ranks was unbelievabe. The tension and emotion in the rooms whilst waiting for the result, after everyone had worked so hard..

The women councilors did the military proud, many being mothers of children probably about same age as Headley boys. However somee of the male councillors abstained and showed a complete yellow back.

If you don't agree with 36 grays lane then say so but at least have the bottle to vote against not sit on the fence.

Afterwards the Headley Boys was (unannounced to pub) taken to a local pub in Dorking and the reception they got was unbelievable. Due to all the press and TV coverage over last 10 days everyone seemed to want to know these kids instead of hiding from them.

It was a great day for all our children and future grandchildren who may one day join the forecs or be serving at present. We all hope they never have to visit Headley Court but if they do then they now have excellent facities for their families to be close by.

Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign.

Roy

Northern Ireland as it is now -- Geoff 'Brick' Wall, 03:43:07 07/29/07 Sun
Since retiring from the Police in Jan 2006 i have taken up a post with the Histrorical Enquiry Team in Northern Ireland, basically speaking it is the review of the murders that occurred during the troubles (bet 1969 & 1998)and trying to give some resolution for the loved ones of those that were killed. So I thought it may be interesting to the ex Hampshire Gunners who toured the provice to give you an update on the current state of your old stomping areas.Firstly the 1977 tour, (23 Bty)The camp in Portadown has just closed but is still standing, the last military unit moved out about 2 months ago, (56 Bty)the 'nicker factory' in Lurgan has been demolished and is now waste ground. (6 Bty) The Maze prison is unused and derlelict and it looks like it is about to be demolished and replace with a National Sports Stadium. The 1980 tour, i can't remember exactly which Battery was where, but here go's, the Central Hotel is now a smart City Centre Shopping Mall, Girdwood Park still stands ,but is unused, the green gates are still the same though, Flax Street Mill has been tidied up and is offices, the Crumlin Road Prison is unused and derelict along with the Court House directly across the road, but i think developers are going to start on them both soon. The check point into Aldergrove airport was only knocked down in Feb of this year. What does remain are the murals on the wall ends and they are now a tourist attraction. Belfast is now a very popular city to visit with lots of good guiness being served, if any one is thinking of a break over there send me a mail and i will point you in the right direction for a good night out.

DO ANYONE ACTUALLY GIVE A TOSS about our wounded boy's and girl's coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan?

All the other military sites are very busy on this subject including 49 Bty. Apart from Mick Sabotta and Wes Harding (49 Bty are really pushing this) no-one as asked anything about it or mentioned it on site.

Either no one is going on 6 Bty, 23 Bty or 27 Regt sites or is it a case no-one cares as it don't effect them. Please tell me I'm wrong, this will be a national disgrace if the NIMBY's win on Wednesday.

Hi Dai, hi everyone,

nice to see the website is hotting up. What i would like to know is how many are going to the Regtimental reunion, i personally would like to attend as Terry has found an excellent location at a great price. So how many six bty members are attending. Dai is it possible to for you to make a register of how many will be attending, it would be nice to know. Enough of that let´s get back to other things, Gobber what is wrong with you are you under so much pressure with your job or do you just want to aggravate people. You being an educated person should realise, that people who live in foreign countries do lose their way to explain, spell things, their thermology gets less and less over the years, don´t worry i know i have made many spelling mistakes, english was not my better subject at school. There is no need to try and prove yourself. We all no you was good at your job so lets keep it at that.

Dai

You have missssed the poinnt a bit, I am not trying to aggravate anyone I was just taking the piss, like we used to do all the time. I have been friends with Spick for a long time, the fact that I shot him was just a minor blip in our relationship. We have also known each other for a long time, and you know I have always been the same and I have absolutely no intention of changing.

Resorting back to type, firstly I think you have had more than a few beers, and your e-mail was worse than Spicks, by some considerable margin. I suppose you have more of an excuse than Spick as your first language is Welsh. I also note that Harry has not come back with any witty replies yet, has the mobile library has broken down again, or is it this week that it doubles up as fish & chip van.

I have deliberatly included some spelling mistakes and poor grammar as I would not want to offend anyone by out speelling them or using grammar that they do not understand.

Dai, if you are starting to develop a German Sense of Humour ( I am not sure this condition actually exists) I can let you have the number of a very good Harley Street Trick Cyclist. I have used this phrase because I did not know how to spell Psychiatrist

Take Care

Gobber

The following has been copied from the Arrse Website at www.arrse.co.uk

If MVDC only published letters of objection, then they had only received letters of objection and none in support.

Locals may have expressed support, but not if writing.

I think the, nearly, 300 letters of support that have since been added lend credibility to this logic.

Brian's not just pompous, think that's how you spell it.
He is absolutly right , any body neading any kind of help will get all the help they need from the legian, and anybody with any kind of injury that they think is down to military service then get on to the MOD veteranse agency, dont try sueing the ministry of defence like somebody did because you wont get very far, and no it was'nt me.
Medical doc's you can get from Service Records office in Glasgow it does'nt take long to get them. Any body wanting telephone nuber's and addresses can contact me on my e-mail.

Spick brilliant message: first of all you were concerned that you had spelt pompous correctly you then went onto miss-spell ~ absolutely, legion, needing and vetranse.

Oh by the way what does (nuber's) mean ??

Just to add insult to injury your punctuation is appalling

Gobber old mate,
I suggest that if you are going to correct Spick's spelling, you should do him the courtesy of feeding him the correct information.
(vetranse) is actually spelt veterans. Not only that, you muppet, misspelt has only two s's!
By the way according to the Collins English dictionary the word nuber doesn't exist ,but the Nuba was a warlike tribe living chiefly in the hills of south central Sudan.
Hope you are all well all the best H

Well spotted Harry, I take it you are not getting out of the house very often these days!! Counting the hours away waiting for the mobile library to arrive.

Why don't you move out to Germany with Spick, you could have loads of fun compiling grammatically correct e-mails. To most of us this would be extremely boring however, as Dai Rowland's is always keen to point out it is far cheaper to be bored in Germany that it is in the UK. Apparently hair care products are unbelievably cheap, in your case H you would be getting some serious money back.

Take care

Reunion News -- Terry St Pierre, 11:04:55 06/25/07 Mon
The 27 Regimental Reunion will take place 6-8th June 2008.
The venue is Sandbay, Kewstoke, Weston Supermare. Costing for the weekend will be £89.00 per person. This is for overnight accommodation for 3 nights inclusive of Breakfast and Dinner. There will also be a 50p bar on the Saturday night for House branded drinks.
Accommodation is Chalet type with on-suite. Basic but clean and comfortable.
Entertainment is provided nightly with dancing and cabaret but an alternative function room is available for those wanting a more quiet life.
Booking: Please book direct through Hollybush at Sandbay Tel: 0845 8800 211 and quote booking reference(27RG).
It is important to book ASP as this venue is open to the general public but the manager will try and hold our rooms as long as possible. A £20.00 deposit will be payable when booking.
Finally, it is a while since we had a major reunion and this venue is capable of holding us all. We are all getting older and the regiment played a big part in our lives so lets have a good one.
I will be sending out letters individually once I get postal and email addresses updated.
My best regards to you all

Terry

I attended Gordons funeral on Friday at Southend-on-Sea, he was given a special send off, the local RA Association laid on a 25pdr Gun Carriage and provided bearers complete with standard. It was moving to see the respect local people gave the cortege as the Gun Carriage passed by.

GRANNY Jennifer Brown was thrilled to be awarded second place for her Victoria Sponge in a baking contest... but her joy quickly crumbled.

The 62-year-old who has delighted family and friends with her baking skills for years, was intrigued to find out which cake had beaten her tasty treat to the top spot.

But snooty judges revealed her cake had been the ONLY entry.

Organisers had spotted her sponge had rack mark indentations from where it had been in the oven - and decided it just wasn't up to the high standards demanded of coveted top place.

But grandmother-of-four Jennifer said she was not browned off and chuckled: "I must admit I have never heard of coming second in a one horse race before.

"But I haven't taken it personally - I had a good laugh about it.

"When a friend of mine told me I had come second I was quite pleased, both for getting a prize and also because I just assumed they must have had more entries.

"I've been baking cakes for years - and they have always been very popular with my family and friends so I am not suffering a crisis of confidence.

"The cake hadn't been judged good enough to win the contest, but it was soon polished off and there were certainly no complaints.

"When I spoke to the organiser she explained that to give first prize the cake had to appear to be perfect."

Jennifer, who had entered the competition organised for her village carnival Wimblington, Cambs, added: "Although I have never heard of anything like this before I certainly didn't take offence.

"I had a good laugh with the organiser about it. It certainly won't put me off baking cakes."

Julie Dent, 44, member of the Wimblington Sports Committee, which ran the competition, explained: "The judges had an expectation and I suppose they didn't feel as though it qualified for first place. This was the first year but the cake competition will become an annual event.

"We weren't disappointed with only having one entry - from little acorns oak trees grow. We are definitely going to promote it for next year."

And she revealed something equally half-baked had happened to her.

"About 11 years ago I entered a show with some fruit scones. I was the only entrant but I came third.

"In your own mind you have got a level where you think first place should be. If you don't think something is worth first place, you don't give it first place."

Hi all.
BG dont worry about the Sat Nav thing a bit on the command troop side, it gives you an excuse to blame some thing else for getting you either lost or up a dead end. Where and when is the next Regimental reunion, sounds like a good idea to support it in mass and then lippy the following year, gives you time to organise no excuses. This global warming is killing me I can't stand the heat, that's when I can get my head above water, it's nice to see the message board a bit busier as well.
All the best.

Hi all

It 23.00hr just home from work and checking message board its good to see people are starting to send a few message's.
Reference the Reunion I think that Dai's idea of waiting for a year and meeting in Germany is best this will give everyone chance to make plans and get time off work. I know no matter the location everyone will have great time but to be back on our home ground will make it all the more special.

Anyway nice to see so many message's and just to inform Stevie Eames my nephew up north has SAT NAV on his skateboard.

Take Care

Hi all, hi Dai,
i would like to comment on various things, like housing, buying cars etc. you in our home land get ripped off straight away. e.g.i Deliver kitchens to building sites and see how these houses are built. i will not go into any details but they are not up to the standard that would be built here in germany. you are being robbed. Car sales you are being robbed, the prices are out of this world in GB compared to europe. so thats enough about that lets think about the next reunion. My opinion is we support the next Regimental reunion as a bty. i.e. as many as possible 6 bty members attend. That will give us the satisfaction of meeting our mates and likely giving us the pleasure of meeting others from other btys. Dai has already done the pre advance party and has found out for himself what the costs are, so it is no problem for others to come across for a short holiday. Especially in summer there are so many oppertunities to have a good time and the entertainment in summer on the marktplatz is free. So think about it and you might find out why i decided to stay here in germany.

Take care and i hope to see you soon

Dai Rowlands

Hi Gobber,

Dont tell Fib's Gobber no car in the south of england is Fitted with Sat Nav as standard, You lot down south are ripped off at the show room just for the shell of the car, ie, Shell, motor front seat's back seat's and the wheel's, and if they could get away with it they would flog you the ash tray as a fitted extra, ask Pug.

If you want a good deal for your money I suggest you go up north, where you'll get a fair deal.
