Yes.

>When?

I can't remember where but between Vol. 13-15.

>And I don't see why he would wish to lose...

my suspicion is, his wish is not exactly to lose but rather to destroy this world.

>his
>greatest wish (at least at the time of his choosing
>sides) is to protect the place that Kotori and Fuuma
>could live happily

I take that as his 'conscious' wish. One that he keeps thinking all the time. For example, I often wish that I have a lot of money and work my way towards that. But I also often have 'unconscious' wish (ie. wishing something bad to happen to the person that I don't like).

IMO, Kamui's 'unconcious' (or 'real' wish as stated in the manga) is actually one for the destruction of the world which has been so unkind to him. He may not realise it yet and he may start to lose the idea as his desire to protect the people that he loves become stronger but it's definitely stil there.

That's why it makes sense that as long as he stil has this desire, then Dark Kamui will still manifest in Fuuma. Because I see Dark Kamui as a physical manifestation of Kamui's wish to destroy the world that has been unkind to him.

>(Interesting sidenote: technically
>couldn't this also push him to the Dragon of Earth
>side? Protecting the 'place' could mean nurturing
>Earth, and destroying humanity)

That's also an interesting interpretation. Kamui's dual nature as well as his position as the 'real Kamui' makes it possible that after all the choice is within him.

>However, when Kamui voiced his wish, Kakyou did point
>out that 'Fuuma' would get hurt (meaning not DoE
>Kamui). So then HE would be the one suffering.

I think it's the other way around. Kakyo said that as long as Kamui doesn't realise his true (unconscious) wish and abandon it, he'll be the one to suffer.
