*beam* I need some insight into her character, and I thought this might be the best place to get it! I know that someone (you?) wrote a fic where the ending of TB was different, and I've been considering a similar idea -- but the execution needs a bit of work still. Plus it's just plain fun to discuss the TB characters!

She did, but then she also seemed to be making a few choices for him that weren't just little things like clothing, etc -- such as not telling him her suspicions about Seishirou. Of course, it might have been her giving Seishirou a chance; it always seemed to me that she thought that if anyone could awaken feelings/love/what-have-you in Sei-chan, it would be her brother simply because of his purity (which makes his current situation all the more ironic, given that she played an integral part in Seishirou's death... oops.)

Ooh! Specific examples? I couldn't find any... :/ Of course, it's been a while since I looked veryvery hard. It was just my impression.

That's probably the best and simplest way I've heard it put. I wonder whether it really was all for Subaru's sake, though; in some ways, I really do think that Hokuto loved Seishirou as well. Damned Sumeragi twin over-sweetness? ;) Either way, she liked/loved/trusted (?) him enough to try to give him another chance and tried to satisfy the Damned Tree at the same time.
>Oh, heheheh. Seems as if you think the opposite to me.

Hmm. I like that interpretation a lot better than my own, actually. Again, it was my impression that she made a lot of decisions (ie, to keep him innocent and naive, perhaps) for him... but hey, I'm more than willing to be proven wrong with the right evidence and arguments!

I think it'd be interesting if it really were a perception-of-self thing... what she feels most comfortable/herself in is that. TB does seem to be a great deal about the masks we wear, and while I know that Hokuto wore the style she did because she loved it, loved the colour, loved being different, it might have been something she did, again, for Subaru -- so that the one who truly was the stranger of the two /wouldn't be seen as such/?
It really did seem as though we got to see a very different side of Hokuto when she spoke to Kakyou. In itself... it's fascinating just to see the contrast and similarity.
