It's just a speculation, of course. But at the moment I'm inclined to believe that it was the good Hinoto who has the wish to continue to live on as a dreamgazer. I think that wish of her is so strong, so much so she's willing to gather DoH and later on, unconsciously facilitate a way for her dark personality to take over her body.

That's true. I often forget that evil Hinoto is mentally imbalanced and probably the only thing that matters to her at the moment is the death of the DoH.

That's what bothers me as well. If she knew well in advance that Saiki is going to die at a certain point in his life, then couldn't she warned him about it? I know it may scare the guy, but it wouldn't hurt to try to make him stay with her at that point and see if that averts his doom.
