The Malaysian Health Ministry sticks to WHO reference to swine flu as Influenza H1N1. However, the Information Ministry directs all media to report the disease as "selsema babi" ( swine flu ). Reasons being that the public may not realise the seriousness of the disease if it is reported as Influenza H1N1. Furthermore, according to him, TV newscasters find it difficult to pronounce Influenza H1N1. Easier if it is "selsema babi". What nonsense !!! To me it is pig reasoning !

Thailand now has close to 1,500 cases, including 5 deaths. It may be erroneous for me to think that the disease is not that serious. Yet I still do not view it very seriously as compared to SAR which was deadly and frightening. 3 of the 5 were reported to have died from H1N1 related symptoms or complications. 2 others had other illnesses besides H1N1 flu. The 15 year old girl who died also has chronic illnesses including brain tumour and diabetes. The 47 year old man actually succumbed to heart and renal failure. Actually it is difficult to say that these 2 died of swine flu. I am no Dr. Wizard to say that.

Staying home and refrain from travel does not immune one from "swine flu" ( better follow advice from our Minister of Information lest those reading this may not appreciate the seriousness of the disease ). From what I read, the disease actually originated from Texas, Ohio and one other American state. It was in Mexico where it flared up and gained prominence. That being the case, I would advise that we don't behave like the Americanos. Stop keeping pigs as pets. Stop cuddling the pigs, kissing the pigs and sleeping with the pigs like American ladies do. They also get f.............(not polite to mention here).

Bye for now, More to come.
