Congratulations to the Captain for a very fine family photo and thank you for sharing it with us.
You are indeed a fortunate person to be able to enjoy a job that you love and at the same time benefit by the very charter of the job - that is being able to fly (especially to and from the destinations of your family).
Re going "home" to good old Klang.......I myself do not go home for family as much as for meeting up with the friends of yesteryear and today. I do have an older brother residing in Klang and we do meet up, have a couple of dinners and chat away.
However, most of my time is taken up with good buddies like Inspector Kluso, the Captain (who spoils me with his durian supplier) and even going to Kajang to meet up with El Toro. I also catch up with other people from my school and teenage days in KL, travel to Penang to see g.fs' and visit durian farms, Ipoh to eat the local fare and lucky to have dear HSS put me up at his place.
Then I visit Singapore (last time 3 trips in the 4 weeks) to socialize with more 'new people' I have met and been corresponding with from Australia.
They consist of persons interested in similar hobbies like Latin dancing and wine.
And what about the CO64 gatherings? I have always had a ball at these functions and catch up with ex-classmates from more than 40 years ago.
So LG - it is really what you make of your time. I agree with you on the lack of family ties - but I enjoy Malaysia much more in my later life than in my earlier life. I am catching up with what I miss in terms of visitations/travel, but most of all, it is the welcome, friendship and mateship that one enjoys above all - particularly those of our CO64 classmates.
So, maybe it is time you went home to see for yourself.....what do you think?
