DEVASTATION & DISASTER caused by the bush fires in the State of Victoria will result in over 200 people losing their lives.

A Royal Commission has been called to determine the cause of the fires as well make recommendations as to handling, safety and the "wait & see" stance taken when bush fires threaten dwellings and human lives.

It is no secret that I have said much on the "Greenie" attitude of 'preserve the forest' - apparently even at the cost of human lives. Instead of thinning out the forests and bushland of undergrowth fuel (grass and trees), the Foresty Departments have allowed more than 30 tonnes per acre of undergrowth rather than keeping it down to a safe 8 tonnes. This would have resulted in the very fast moving and ravaging bush fires that consumed Victoria last weekend.
Not only that, nowadays we encourage children to plant trees 1 meter apart for the sake of "regrowing the forests" and the classic misnomer of preventing "global warming".
These trees should be planted around 5 meters apart in order that space be created instead of clustering potential fuel for wild fires.

Political parties pander to the green vote minority who preach their brand of misinformed pseudo science of tree preservation. These so-called latte conservationists should hang their heads in shame as Councils, Shires & State Governments are persuaded to allow random forest growth instead of responsible forest management (inclusive of back burning and the creation of fire gaps).

Whatever the Royal Commission finds, the Greenies will be there arguing that our children will suffer in the future and the World will come to an end if we do NOT plant more trees and leave the forests alone.
I think we should be more interested in making sure that we are not all burnt off the face of the Earth if Government continues to run these irresponsible Conservation programs.

So this coming weekend, let us not plant a tree each - but hang a tree hugger instead. We may save more lives re our future generations.
