Richard "Dick" Roberts

86, Greenfield, IN, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Community Hospital East. Born on October 30, 1925 in Indianapolis, he was the son of R. Earl and Margaret (Adkins) Roberts. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1943. He married Helen L. (Anderson) Roberts on July 29, 1961.

Richard worked for The Indianapolis Star for 38 years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #720 F&AM and served on the Lawrence Town Board.

Surviving him are his sons, Richard (Debbie) Roberts of Carmel, Bill (Sandy) Abston of Lawrence, Charles Roberts of Clearwater, Florida, and Kenneth Roberts of Clayton; daughters, Nancy (Nick) Brown of Macy, Sandy (Joseph) Smith of Lancaster, Ohio, Patty (Mike) Vandemark of Atlanta, Georgia, Bonnie Robinson of New Palestine, and Cindy Bright of Florida; 24 grandchildren; and 22, great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Margaret Roberts; wife, Helen Roberts; brother, Charles Pearson; and sister, Peggy Wagner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 18, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will follow with a Masonic service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date
