Heather is so right on target. When an addict wants to get clean they will do everything they possibly can to get there and they won't let anyone take it away. If it's just talk, you'll know it by their actions or if they make excuses on whjy they can't get help. I believe in intensive inpatient treatment and after care thereafter including AA &/or NA meetings aggressively. It's not hard to get help - it's harder to really need it. He has to get to the point where he has hit bottom and it won't happen if you're helping him in any way. Don't listen to his words/"intentions", wantch his actions - closely. You can tell if they're humbled or not. Most importantly, take care of yourself and look for peace. I did and it was all that saved me. I turned to God. Pray for him.
