In the post below someone wrote that it takes as long in recovery as the person was using. That made me question how long until we can trust again and more importantly trust that man with my child again? My ex will be getting out of rehab within the next week or so (I am guessing as he asked him mom to not tell me anything and she agreed). I know as soon as he gets back he is going to ask to see his daughter. I have so many mixed feelings -do I keep him from her for a certain amount of time to KNOW he is really not using (and what is that time frame)? If I tell him he can never see her, isn't that punishing someone for the rest of their lives for a mistake they made? When does compassion, comprimise,and forgiveness take place and should it? I know this man is a good person when he is not using. I know his depth of love for his daughter and him wanting to be a good father -the drugs clouded that. When do we trust again? We do we forgive? When do we give a second chance? Do we give a second chance? And if we do or if we do not -who ultimately is hurt by that decision?????
