I know that my aunt kicked her son out and since he was used to the comfort of his own bed and food and just a home in general - after two months of being gone (a month of which he was living in a car) he went to rehab (November) and has been clean ever since. Moved to a different state to get his pregnant girlfriend (which he didn't want to be with but now he has responsibility to because of the baby)away from drugs and they are doing really good. he is working and supporting his new little family. So tough love does work on some.
