I can't say that I can answer you as a recovering addict, but I know that my husband told me he forgets like that also.
I have had that situation when I was going through treatment for an overactive thyroid. I was taken off my meds to go through the process of taking out my thyroid and while I was losing the thyroid gland my memory felt as if were going also. I attached a link for you to look at that basically I feel says this: If you are going from HYPERACTIVITY TO NONE AT ALL, your memory is confused and waiting for that stuff that makes it hyper. And when you don't feed the need, your brain will start to work normally but it will take some time. It made sense to me once I read it. It took awhile to get it back to normal. I too couldn't remember what I did the night before. I was off meds for two months so basically I was tweaking without drugs then they gave me radio active iodine one day and it took a week to completely dissolve my thyroid and that's when the memory issues started. Hope this makes sense.
