I am wife age 49 and husband is 35. We have been together over 5 yrs and married 2 1/2 years. I have a 9 yr old son from previous marriage. We live in a very rural area and for the first 3 years other than his getting drunk which included driving drunk and smoking a little weed every now and then, our relationship was pretty good. He came home every night after work, we did things together as a family. I bought a house using my name and credit and then we moved, still rural but larger population. Since then it has all been down hill. He would stay gone-no phone call-no checking to see if my son and I were ok. A female friend of ours showed up one day higher than a kite and after she left my husband said, I don't use that kind of stuff only a little weed. Well last summer after many a time of him disappearing-he finally admitted that he has been using all along. I lost my home-he totalled my new car and then the replacement new car wrecked and then repoed, he just now went back to work after I can't remember how long. He was arrested for possession and did 3 weeks in county jail-got 5 years probation-already has one violation-did 3 weeks in treatment (in-patient), has to go to drug classes 2 times a week and still does the crap. Last year he disappeared for 8 days. I could have been dead and buried by the time he came home. He has a friend and if that guy calls out the door he goes. He has even left our bed at 1am to go help this guy. I ask for things from him and end up having to do them myself. He admits that he is an addict. My son knows the truth about his addiction. I want to help my husband in any way I can but I do not think he wants the help. He thinks the drug classes are a joke. Any response especially from previous users would be welcome. thank you and god Bless you all that are or have gone through this.
