Hello all, I have found your club, so thought I would join in.
I have bought a Paris convertable, that has turned out to be worse than I thought, so debating whether to do it or not, someone did come and look at the car yesterday, Pete from aircooledtechnic.com.
He told me not to bother, said it was cost too much to do. reckons I am better of buying his mates one that has been done for two grand.
Dont suppose any body in the fleet area would be prepared to give me a second opinion ( I dont want a show car ) just something that is useable.
I am pretty much aware that at least a grand would be needed to invest into, which is fine by me as it could be done over time, not all at once.
I have a friend who is a welder, who would be prepared to help me out and I am not bad with a spanner myself.
Have been to Fleet library and got some books on resto.
Certainly doesn't look easy, but I have pretty good patience, a fair bit of time on my hands and am willing to learn.
I must add I did buy this car for my wife as she just loves bugs and has always had a soft spot for convertables, unfortunatly we dont have the money for a Karmann, or a few grand in one hit to buy a runner, so our only option was to buy something that I would have to work on, but looks like the car is worse than I thought at first, it looked fine underneath but when carpets where removed the floors are rotten and so is lots of other stuff.
Anyway thanks for listening and if someone can come and look it would be appreciated.
