My father-in-law died 19 years ago. The following spring mother-in-law stayed with us for a break and one morning we went for a walk along one of the local country lanes. A robin followed us all the way and all the way back, flitting from branch to branch. Mother-in-law said 'That is dad walking with us'. When I asked her what she meant, she told me that from the day my father-in-law died whenever she went into garden or walking a robin kept her company. She said she 'knew' it was dad. (She always called and addressed father-in-law as dad).
