Subject: Freaked out in Bed last night...

I had one of the strangest, and definitely the most disturbing, experiences of my life last. I had gone to bed just after midnight and fell asleep easily as I was pretty tited. At around 2 a.m. I semi-woke as I was fretting about an imminent house move I have coming up in six weeks. After this I am not sure if I fell fully asleep but I was woken with a start later (I didn't check the time) by someone shaking my shoulders quite firmly (I was able to feel their fingers gripping my shoulder). At the time, I was fairly annoyed as I wanted to get back to sleep and so I asked them to stop it and leave me alone as it was the middle of the night.

I then became aware of someone/thing pushing against my back with some force (I was lying on my side). At this point I woke fully and became very alarmed indeed as it dawned on me that last night I was alone in the house. I remember feeling very disturbed and a little scared (but nowhere near as scared as perhaps I should have been given the situation). After what must have been 30-45 seconds of pressure on my back the weight shifted to my side so that it was exerting directly down on me. During this time I heard a deep breathy noise very close to my ear but I am prepared to put that down to wind noise from outside but I'm not 100% confident of that being the explanation. I did not open my eyes at any time unfortunately (or fortunately!) and then the pressure suddenly lifted. At this point I opened my eyes and looked over my shoulder to see nothing at all. Needless to say this was very disturbing but I actually felt very sleepy so rolled over and continued sleeping. At some point, not too long after, I experienced the pushing in my back again but for a shorter time, maybe 10-15 seconds. After that incident I returned to sleep and awoke in the morning with no further disturbances.

I checked myself over in the morning to make sure that I wasn't bruised on my back or had been lying oddly (I was attempting to figure out a rational explanation for the pressure I had felt upon me) but I was fine. I have never experienced anything like this before and hope not to again.

Has anyone on the boards ever experienced anything like this ever? Or can someone offer me a half rational explanation?

I'm a little nervous of going to bed tonight....

Cheers
