Subject: Ghost

A lot of people don't believe in Ghosts but I never really had an option, I grew up with one! Our house is over a hundred years old. When my mum and dad first moved in (before I was born)doors would unlock and fly open in the middle of the night and strange shadows were seen in the rooms. My mum's German Shepherd, Marcus, also seemed to be awre of somethign and, at times, would refuse to go downstairs at night, as if afraid of something. However, when mum and dad divorced things quietened down. The Ghost (whom we have christened "Harry" after a previous owner who died in the house)is generally only mischievous. For example, one day my mum was putting up the ironign board (an old thign that requires two hands to manipulate)in the kitchen, turned away and, when she turned back, the coffee cup that had been in the living room was sitting on the ironing board. He also has some (dubious) talent as a chef. Several times the Kitchen has been filled with the smell of brunign toast. On the first instance we assumed that the smell was coming form elsewhere but, on checking, we discovered that all the doors and windows were closed, all elctrical devices unplugged, and nothing else present that might have caused the smell. Touch wood the presence has not been violent, in fact my sister and I find him quite comforting. Listing all of his practical jokes would take forever but we know if somethign unexplainedly goes missing (like the gold ring that disappeared at school and later turned up in the bottom of an unopened box of dog food)and then shows up in a strnage place it's either my sister being annoying or Harry up to his old tricks.
