Subject: Hope Powell

That's a pretty damning report on Hope Powell's ability as Women's England Coach. Come on now, does she really deserve such a slating? My daughter was 'spotted' by Hope when she was only 13, she was included in the Under 17 development squad for some time but had to pull out due to injury. I have to say that I found Hope to be very dedicated and she has done a tremendous amount for Women's football. Wasn't the Loughborough University scholorship partly her idea.....I know she did a lot of work towards it and certainly she lectured to the parents and the prospective candidates for the first intake. Maybe the youngsters who are coming up who have had better coaches due to more Centres of Excellence - will be able to pull us back into the running for winning competitions, and also the Loughborough students should make a difference. remember that although Women's football is up & coming now in the UK the other countries have had years of coaching and money to improve their ability. I for one will not have a bad word said against Hope Powell...... who else is there out there who can do better?
