Subject: why, oh, why

Why, oh, why is it that the London underground staff still insist that we should "USE ALL AVAILABLE DOORS"when boarding.
Surely in the year 2000 this practice should cease.
The safety aspect alone is of great concern, not to mention the inconveience to other passengers or the delays it causes on an already over-stretched network.
Approaching my eightieth year I find these days only able to manage to use five or six of the forty-eight doors available at a time in the short period the train is stationary. As for my wife, slightly more mature of age, a quick trip to the Brent Cross shopping mall regularly turns into an unexpected Odyssey or an over-night in Middlesex hospital.
