I have done several European mounts. Start by cutting all of the remaining cape from the skull. I usually use a knive, pliers, side cutters, and vise grips. It can be quite a chore depending on how long the deer has been dead. Then remove as much of everything (eyes, brain, tongue, and muscle) as possible as this will dramatically reduce boiling time. Boil until everything is thouroghly cooked, then start back to pickin. Will take several hours. You could bury the skull after all hair is gone and the bugs will eat everything else. Also, TO ALL SHED HUNTERS. Depending on your state, it is illegal to pick up a dead buck without first calling a conservation officer. If you get caught with it it is considered an illegal rack just as if you poached it. Good luck to all. marketfox
