My mom read Stiff and seemed to enjoy it. A little too creepy for my tastes. Too many gory details (she read me a few excerpts)/ On the same lines as that book though, I recently read Remember Me by Lisa Takeuchi. Very informative about funerals and the different ways people choose to celebrate their lives after they die. Basically she went around the country and studied people and how they do their funerals. I thought it was very interesting and couldn't put it down even though it's on a rather morbid subject. My bookclub read it too and most of them couldn't get into it...so maybe it's just me. I am sure you've heard of this one...The Life of Pi ...it's one of my fav books ever! Yann Martel. Definitely worth a read!
