Kiersten, I check the forum frequently, because it is one of my 4 bookmarked sites I check almost everyday! Plus, being at home with Ruby allows me more time to do that--probably more so than the other Jollies who have jobs, school, or more than one child, or jobs and a child. ;-)
My news is that Joe is on the waiting list for Ohio University (Athens) PhD in Creative Writing. He is #3, so we are hopeing and praying that a spot will open up for him to go. Ohio is one of our top picks. The give all their PhD candidates teaching stipends, and that is a major bonus.
Joe also got accepted to University of Nebraska, Lincoln (UNL). But, they only have a limited number of teaching stipends, so our decision will be heavily affected by that. They don't extend teaching stipend offers for another month or so.
We're still waiting to hear from SUNY Albany, U of Houston, U of Hawaii. Houston is our pie in the sky pick.
Ruby Jane will turn 1 year old on March 27th! Oh, I'm sentimental. She is a sweet baby, and this parenting thing is not as difficult as I had imagined. But, we're lucky, and then next one could be tough. A woman in our ward has a baby with bad colic--true colic. I feel for her!
I'm reading "A Tale of Two Cities" for the first time. So far so good. Our bookclub is reading it. I also just read "A Place on Earth" by Wendell Berry. Did I already mention that? Loved it. Made me want to move to Kentucky. Ohio is directly north of Kentucky, so maybe I'll live in a similar place. ;-)
We really are praying for Ohio to come through for us.
I would love to hear about your life and what you are thinking about doing next year, and everyone else's lives.
