I had wanted to see it since I read a review of it in a newsgroup about 2 years ago. It just took me a long time to muster the motivation to get a copy of it, so I only finished watching it in February.

One thing that has surprised me is how little word of mouth this show has gotten. I hardly heard anything about it in 1999, and when it got picked up and released here, there was also very little fanfair. Since then I've heard praise about it here and there, but nothing compared to what some other shows have gotten, although I consider this as good (if not better) than those shows.

It's a well done AMV, but personally I don't think it gives you a good idea of what Now and Then Here and There is about at all. In fact it might give a false impression of the show.

*snip stuff on RahXephon* I have nothing more to comment on it.

Personally I think AMG is best appreciated by guys since it's pretty much a harem anime aimed at guys. It doesn't mean it's not funny to me, but I don't think it's as good as most guys seems to rate it. Which is why I don't have that much interest in seeing YUA.

I have as little interest in Digi Charat as I do in YUA, so I can't comment on it, but Excel Saga was simply too random for me to enjoy that much. And I don't know that I'd label CCS a comedy/slapstick anime, although there are some very funny parts in it once you've gotten to know the characters. Even if I did consider CCS a comedy/slapstick anime, I wouldn't call it one of the best, although it is very good. KareKano is definitely funnier and good enough to be considered one of the best for the first half of the series, but it goes downhill, so I don't think I'd call it one of the best anime comedies overall.

Personally, I'd label the first season of Kodocha as the best comedy anime I've seen to date (as with Kenshin, I discount the remainder, which is mere filler episodes because they ran out of manga). It has the insane Excel-style humor (though not as dirty or as sensless as Excel) but it also had an ongoing serious plot underneath all that humor which really made the show shine. And up until Sony ran out of manga (around the beginning of the 2nd season) and started making fillers, it was very consistent both in humor and plot. After that it is funny, but the anime loses its bite when it loses its plot.

I'd also name Fruits Basket, but like CCS, I don't consider it a simple comedy, since it's a lot more than just that. As a pencilboard I have states, "It's a zodiac animal transformation home comedy!" At any rate it's very good, and it's also a lot more consistent than KareKano. (Wow, my first two picks are both Daiichi Akitarous.) However, if you insist on me calling Fruits Basket a mere comedy, I would actually rate Fruits Basket higher than Kodocha because it's just as funny (in a different sort of way), but they didn't make a lot of pointless fillers and simply ended the show once they caught up with the manga.

Maison Ikkoku is also very good, and something I would recommend to anyone that has the time and patience to watch a 96 episode series. The only problem with Maison Ikkoku is that its plot doesn't kick in until halfway through the series (before then they need to establish characters), which is a long time to wait before getting to plot.

I've heard that Azumanga Daioh is also very funny, but unique at the same time, so that may get on my list very shortly.

><--needs to lighten up ne?

I guess I'll have to take your word on that. ;)

*snips remainder on how watching anime is not a contest*
