Okay...then I'll shut up about this then :)

I completely agree with you from, well, the artistic integrity standpoint--that it should not be changed, the original vision is king, etc. etc. I just disagreed with your use of the word "right", and this is as far as I care to take a semantic debate on word choice.

Unless you _want_ this to turn into some big flamefest?

I myself have never seen Robotech. At all. (Nor have I seen Macross, but that's getting a bit afield.) But suppose it was really good? Suppose all the changes were for the better, so that the end result was far better.

Maybe it'd be better to work with an imaginary example. Supposing someone took Devilman Lady, Cyborg Kuro-chan, and...name some other show that you thought sucked...And Excel Saga.

Suppose some very strange person took Devilman Lady, Cyborg Kuro-chan, and Excel saga and somehow managed to combine them into something you really liked. Never mind how. Throw in Ebichu and Kokoro Library for good measure. (I suggest not thinking about how you'd make this good, it's better for your sanity.)

Would that merit calling said loony a creator?

In a tangentially related question, what about anime music videos? How is that not just crushing the creators' intent and walking all over it, of BOTH the music and the video? I tend to think that at some point you have to agree there is artistic merit in making alterations. Or maybe you don't, I don't know.

Questions? Comments? Donations?
