Flood Demage
Before starting work on a building that has been flooded, electricity, gas and water services should be isolated and tested before re-use. All water trapped in or around the building should be drained or pumped out as soon as possible. Checks should be made for water trapped in underfloor air ducts, services access pits, cavities in cavity walls, and areas under the building. Mud, silt and debris that have accumlated against external walls, under boarded floors or in hollow wall cavities should be removed, and underfloor spaces sprayed with disinfectant.

After cleaning, the building should be heated and ventilated by dehumidifiers as much as possible, taking the following precautions-keep windows and doors open as much as possible. Porous building materials such as brickwork may take months to dry out. Where both sides of a wall have an impervious coating, it may be necessary to remove the covering from one side. All timber must be dried out as soon as possible to minmize the risk of fungal attack. Timbers attached to or embedded in damp walls are very vulnerable and require careful examination.

Water trapped in electrial ducts or conduits must be removed by opening inspection elbows and conduit boxes. The electrical installation should be inspected and tested at monthly intervals for the first six months and at least twice in the next six months.

To prevent flooding in the future, Mud and silt can build up in drainage systems during a flood. This may block waste and foul-water drains. After a flood, slit in the local drainage system may affect the drainage in a building until the local authority has cleared the whole network. Check the drains by camera and flushing by a contractor. Use disinfectant in all clearing.

Before considering ways to protect your property against flooding, it should be consider the surrounding area first
-Is the property near a river, stream or ditch?
-Is the area at risk from flooding from the sea?
-Do river or coastal flood defences protect your property.

Then, sort out the history of flooding in that area. These information is the main factor:
-How many floods have occurred in that area?
-What was the source of the flooding?(river, sea?)
-Is the property protected by existing river or coastal flood defences?

These measure can minimize risk of flooding in future:
-Dry-proofing measures include moveable flood protection barriers for doorways, low level windowsand other openings that can be installed before the arrival of floodwater, and the installation of non-return valves on sewers to prevent backflow. This measure is taken to keep water out of the building.
-Wet-proofing measures include the use of flood resistant building materials within walls and floors and in order parts of the structure, and the raising of electrical wiring above flood levels.

The measure or combination of measures chosen will be dependent on the depth and frequency of flooding.

Moreover, the prevent flooding of the property near the river and sea, erect steel sheet pile to prevent loose of the soil.
