Author: Rippers' Girl Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, they are the property of Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy & UPN. L I simply am doing this for fun, and non-profit use. Feedback: Please tell me what you think -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning at 9:00 Giles came back to the hospital and immediately went to her room. Willow was sitting with her when he got there. "Hey Giles," she said. "Any change?" he asked hopefully. "No," Willow said sadly. She got up and left so Giles could sit with her. Giles pulled up a chair and took one of Buffy's hands in his. "Oh, Buffy, dear," Giles said. "You have to wake up, love. You have to come back to us. Remember what you said to me when Jenny died? Well that's what I'm going to say to you now. Don't leave me. I can't do this alone. Please, Buffy. Please come back. I need you." He started to cry. All of sudden he felt the hand he was holding twitch. He looked up. Buffy's eyes had started to flutter. "Come on, Buffy," he pleaded. "Just open your eyes, for me, please." "Giles?" Buffy whispered. "Is it really you?" "Yes, Buffy," he answered tears of joy in his eyes. "It's really me." "Where am I?" she asked. "You don't remember?" Giles asked nervously. "Everything's kind of fuzzy right now," Buffy replied. "Well, I'm going to go get the doctor in here to see you." "OK," Buffy said. "You'll be back though right?" "Of course," Giles answered and left to get the doctor. After he left Buffy started thinking. All right, I'm in the hospital and Giles is here. What happened? What's the last thing I remember? Olivia was at Giles. I didn't care anymore. I was on patrol. Spike was there. OH MY GOD!!! Giles was walking back to Buffy's room with Dr. Stevenson when they heard her scream. Giles ran to the room and went to her and tried to take her in his arms to comfort her. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" she cried. "Leave me alone, don't touch me." She curled herself into a ball and sobbed. Giles backed away. Hurt that she wouldn't let him near her. He felt helpless, wanting to ease her obvious pain but not being able to do anything. He looked to Dr. Stevenson for help but Dr. Stevenson had left as soon as he had heard Buffy scream. He returned an instant later with an older woman. "Mr. Giles I am Dr. Robins," she introduced herself. "I am one the hospitals psychologists. Why don't you go and let her friends know that she's awake while I try and calm Miss Summers down." Giles took one last look at Buffy's sobbing form and left to make his phone calls. Out in the waiting room he called Anya at the shop. She said that she would let Xander know and they would be there after work. He then called the house and left a message for Tara, Willow, and Dawn. After that was done he sat down on one of the chairs and put his head in his hands. When everyone got there they found him in the same position. Dawn rushed up to him. "Is Buffy okay? Can we see her?" she asked. "She's with the doctor right now," Giles replied. "So what happened when she woke up?" Xander asked. "When she first woke up she didn't remember what had happened," Giles said tiredly. "When I went to get the doctor though she must have remembered because she was in hysterics. She wouldn't let myself or Dr. Stevenson near her." "But I though you said he was with her," Willow said confused. "No," he replied. "She's with Dr. Robins. She's a psychologist." At that moment Dr. Robins came into the waiting room. She looked at Giles and said, "I take it these are Buffy's sister and friends." Giles nodded. She continued, "Buffy's been through something very traumatic and it's going to take her a while to come to terms with it. She's still very upset right now but she's calmed down a little. Which one of you is her sister?" "I am," Dawn answered quietly. "Why don't you go see her right now, I think she'd like that but don't ask her any questions about what happened to her. When she is ready she will talk about it. Don't push her." "I won't," Dawn promised and rushed to her sister's room. "That goes for the rest of you," Dr. Robins said. "Buffy's very tired to I'm going to send you all home in a little while so she can get some sleep. I will let the three girls see her but she is not ready for male visitors." Xander looked like he was going to protest but a glare from Giles made sure he kept his mouth shut. Willow, Tara, and Anya made their way to Buffy's room leaving Xander and Giles to sit and wait. When they got to Buffy's room they saw Dawn and Buffy hugging each other. Both had tears in their eyes. When they let go Willow pulled Buffy into a big hug and even Tara and Anya gave her a hug. "Hey guys," she said softly. "Hey, Buffy," Willow replied. "It's good to see you up." "Yes," Anya said. "I'm glad you're not dead." Even Buffy smiled a little at that. They talked for a little while longer about nothing important before Dr. Robins shooed them out the door. They promised they'd be back tomorrow after class and went to find Xander and Giles. Then they all went back to Buffy's house for dinner. After dinner they all found their way to the living room. They knew they had to talk about what happened to Buffy but no one wanted to start. Finally Dawn asked, "How can we help Buffy get better?" Giles answered, "We just have to be there for her whenever she needs us. At first she will probably go to you and Willow because she is closest to you two." "Actually, Giles," Willow said. "I think she's closest to you." Giles looked surprised but said, "Maybe, but right now she doesn't trust any man and that includes me and Xander. You girls are really going to have to look out for her. I hope that eventually Xander and I will be able to help her see that she needn't be afraid of all men but until then it's up to you." Xander spoke up then, "Well I say we find out whoever did this to her and make them pay." "I could get one of my vengeance demon friends to go to Buffy so she could wish something horrible on him," Anya said trying to be helpful. "Dr. Robins said that the police would be speaking to her tomorrow so they could try and find the guy," Giles said. "And we all know how good the Sunnydale police department is," Xander replied sarcastically. "Look it's late we should all get some sleep. Dawn, Willow, and Tara, you three have school tomorrow and Xander, you and Anya have to go to work," Giles said. "I will go see Buffy if she's up to seeing me. If not I shall just wait in the waiting room until one of you girls can get there." "Actually, Mr. Giles," Tara said. "I don't have any classes tomorrow so I could go with you to see Buffy." "Good," he replied. "Well now that that's settled I suggest we all go to bed." Xander and Anya went home, the other three girls went upstairs, and Giles tried to make himself comfortable on the couch. At the hospital Buffy had just woken up from another nightmare. She couldn't believe this had really happened to her. She felt scared and she hated that feeling. She also felt dirty. All I want to do is stake Spike. I hate him so much for what he's done to me but I know that if he were in front of me now I would be so scared I wouldn't be able to do anything and I hate him even more for making me feel like that. I feel so dirty. After everyone had left they had let her take a shower but she still didn't feel clean. She didn't think she'd ever feel clean again. It was so good to see Giles but now I'm even scared of him. I hate Spike for that most of all. I know that he and Xander would never hurt me but still I can't help being scared. Dr. Robins said it was normal but I hate it. I wonder how long Giles is staying. Probably not long. He probably has to get back to Olivia. God, why couldn't Spike have just killed me? I have even less to live for now because I know even when I'm released I'll be too scared to patrol in case I run into Spike. As soon as Giles leaves I know I won't last. Even if he wasn't with Olivia he wouldn't want me now. I'm pathetic and dirty and…I don't know. I'm so tired. Those were her last thoughts before she fell asleep. The next morning Tara and Giles arrived at the hospital around 10:00. "I'll go in and see Buffy while you talk to her doctor," Tara said. Giles nodded and went to find Dr. Robins. "Good morning, Buffy," Tara said as she entered Buffy's room. She looked at Buffy noting the bags under her eyes. "Morning," Buffy replied quietly. "Is anyone else here?" "Giles is talking to Dr. Robins right now," Tara answered. "Oh," was all Buffy said. Just then Dr. Robins walked in. "Hello, Buffy. Tara why don't you go out and wait with Mr. Giles while I talk to Buffy for a minute?" Tara nodded and left the room. "So do you want to see him?" she asked Buffy. Buffy thought for a second before she answered. "Part of me does but part of me is still scared. I hate that. I know Giles and there is no one in this world who I trust more and yet I'm scared of him." "I know, Buffy," Dr. Robins said. "But I promise you that it will get better. It will be easier because you trust him so much. You just have to give it time. You didn't answer my question though. Do you want to see him?" Again Buffy paused to think. "Yes, but no alone." "All right. I'll make sure Tara or someone is with you while he is here. Also you're going to be discharged this afternoon." She then left to get Giles and Tara. She told them of Buffy's request not to be alone with Giles and that she would be discharged this afternoon. Tara and Giles then headed for Buffy's room. "Hello, Buffy," Giles said smiling shyly at her. "Hey, Giles," Buffy answered just as shyly. They were all quiet for a while, none of them really knowing what to say. Buffy broke the silence, "Tara could you please wait right outside the door. I need to talk to Giles privately for a second." "Sure," Tara answered surprised at how much Buffy must trust Mr. Giles to let her leave the room so soon. "Don't go far please," Buffy asked her eyes pleading. "I won't," Tara promised. After she left there was another silence, which this time Giles broke. "So what did you want to talk to me about?" he inquired softly. Buffy bit her lip before answering, "When are you going back to England?" Giles was surprised by that question. Did she really think that he would leave her while she was hurt? "Not until you're better," he replied. "What about Olivia?" she asked nervously, fiddling with the corner of her blanket. "What about Olivia?" he asked baffled at the seemingly change of subject. Buffy looked at him quizzically, "Won't she mind if you're gone for awhile?" "Why should she mind?" he asked. "I've only seen her once since I've been back in England." "Really?" she asked almost hopefully but then her expression got downcast again. It doesn't matter if he's not with Olivia because he still won't want me anymore. Giles was extremely confused by all of this talk about Olivia but he simply answered, "Yes." [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]
